Watch The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie’s Co-Headlining Tour

Tonight, Oct. 3, The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie — both bands helmed by esteemed singer/songwriter Ben Gibbard — will take the stage on their ongoing 20th anniversary tour, this time at Arizona Financial Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona.

The show will be live streamed via the Veeps.com platform as part of the new Veeps All Access service.

Per a news release:

Directed by Lance Bangs, the stream will be the very first to air on Veeps All Access, a new music subscription service that for the first time gives music fans unlimited access to a library of premium quality concerts and live entertainment, original content, and documentaries so they can experience live music every day. Fans can also purchase individual tickets to the show on veeps.com.

With his two bands, Gibbard will play two heralded albums in full — The Postal Service’s Give Up and Death Cab’s Transatlanticism, as part of each set.

Here’s the original trailer that was shared when the tour was first announced:

Both of those 2003 albums were released within eight months of each other, and allowed Gibbard to flex his creative muscles. The Postal Service — Gibbard, Jimmy Tamborello, and Jenny Lewis — will be performing for the first time in over a decade.

That ’03 album, Give Up, was met with near-universal acclaim and has come to be something of a classic album of its time, a more experimental/electronic flourish to Gibbard’s creative expression. It’s also the second highest-selling album in Sub Pop history, trailing only Nirvana’s Nevermind predecessor, Bleach.

For Death Cab for Cutie, Transatlanticism was a breakthrough release for the band, the fourth album catching on in a way that facilitated Death Cab’s emergence as a major force in the indie scene.
