MGMT‘s anticipated first album in six years, Loss of Life, is out this Friday (2/23) via Mom+Pop, but they’ve given you a few ways to hear it early. They’re holding listening parties in Sydney, Brooklyn (National Sawdust on 2/21), Mexico City, and Los Angeles today (2/21) through Thursday.
Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser will attend Thursday’s (2/22) Los Angeles event to discuss the new album with The Best Show‘s Tom Scharpling (who also directed the “Bubblegum Dog” video, which pays homage to ’90s alt-rock videos). It’s sold out to attend in person, but you can stream it on Veeps. Tickets for the stream are on sale now, and all proceeds will go to The Loveland Foundation.
The latest single from Loss of Life is “Dancing in Babylong” and features Christine and the Queens, the band’s first track with a guest feature. Watch the Ray Tintori-directed video below; in addition to MGMT and Christine, it stars actor Julian Morris and Julian’s husband Landon Ross, and has cameos from John Cameron Mitchell and more.
