EXCLUSIVE: Comedian Brad Williams has unveiled his latest comedy special, Starfish, announcing that it will premiere exclusively on the streaming platform Veeps on Thursday, December 21st around 5 p.m. PT.
Williams’ new hour, filmed at Sony Hall in New York City, sees him talk about navigating relationships and everyday life as a little person. He says that he selected the 21st as its premiere date given the fact that
“it’s the shortest day of the year!”
While the special will be available for free for Veeps All Access subscribers, fans can purchase individual tickets on veeps.com for $14.99 with pre-order code BRAD, or for $19.99 day of show. All Access subscribers will be able to enjoy it as many times as they like for a full year following the livestream, with the special to be made available to other ticket holders for seven days post-airing.
Directors for Brad Williams: Starfish were Ryan Devir and Jason Katz. Exec producers included Williams, Andrew Nisinson, Meilin Gray, TJ Markwalter, and Barry Katz. The hour-long special was produced by Pyramyd Studios, Shortcomings Comedy, and Barry Katz Entertainment.
Once described by Robin Williams as “Prozac with a head,” Brad Williams has previously premiered two hour-long specials on Showtime: 2015’s Fun Size, which was the premium cabler’s highest-rated special at the time, and Daddy Issues, which was released the following year. He’s more recently been seen doing a set as part of Netflix’s “no-holds-barred” stand-up series The Degenerates alongside the likes of Big Jay Oakerson, Yamaneika Saunders, Liza Treyger, Joey Diaz, and Christina P.
Selling out his newest show, Mad Apple, which he performed in a brand new theater at the New York New York Hotel in Las Vegas, Williams has also appeared on Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken and Comedy Central’s This Is Not Happening as well as the films Little Evil, Mascots, and Reno 911: It’s a Wonderful Heist. He’s also a favorite on the talk show circuit, having put in multiple appearances on Sherri, The Tonight Show, and Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Launched in 2018 by Joel and Benji Madden, the brothers best known for founding the rock band Good Charlotte, Veeps is a streamer where fans can connect with their favorite artists through live and on-demand concerts, comedy shows, and more. Described by sources as eyeing a more expanded presence of late in stand-up, the service has heretofore been best known for his efforts on the music side, having streamed performances to millions of viewers worldwide for thousands of artists including Billie Eilish, Bob Dylan, Brandi Carlile, Chris Stapleton, Foo Fighters, and Kings of Leon.
An Emmy-nominated platform named a Fast Company World’s Most Innovative Company, Veeps also notably holds the Guinness World Record for the largest ticketed livestream performance by a solo male artist. The show in question was the charity concert ‘Live from London,’ which saw singer-songwriter Louis Tomlinson sell 160,000 tickets worldwide in 2020.
