It was announced yesterday that Chrissie Hynde and her band will host their final show of the year in a special live-streamed concert, which will honour the music of Bob Dylan. This follows the release of her tribute album earlier this year, titled Standing in the Doorway: Chrissie Hynde Sings Bob Dylan.
The show will take place on 26 December, the day following Christmas, when Hynde and Co. will take the stage of London's historical Royal Opera House. The show will be live-streamed on Veeps, the live-streaming platform that hosted Bob Dylan's first specially recorded performance since his 1994 MTV Unplugged.
Titled Chrissie Hynde & Co. Sing Bob Dylan (And Other Songs), tickets are now available to purchase via the Veeps website for $22. The show will be available to stream following the live event until 3rd January 2022. Described as 'a stripped-back, intimate performance by Chrissie Hynde,' and alongside her repertoire of Bob Dylan classics, Hynde will be performing classic songs from Ray Davies, Charles Trenet, Hoagy Carmichael, as well as songs from her back catalogue. On stage, Hynde will be joined by Pretenders bandmates James Walbourne and Carwyn Ellis.
Standing in the Doorway was originally released on streaming platforms back in May, and later in August, it became available for physical purchases. The nine-track album included interpretations of 'You're a Big Girl Now', 'Every Grain of Sand' and 'Love Minus Zero / No Limit'. It was recorded last year in the midst of lockdown by Hynde and her Pretenders bandmate, James Walbourne.
Earlier in 2015, Hynde produced an oil painting of a ceramic vase. It proved to be the starting point for her first body of artwork. These paintings are shared for the very first time in Chrissie Hynde's signed limited edition, Adding The Blue. To read more about the book, click here.
