A performance of the collected and curated best prisoner writings from the Idaho State Penitentiary Creative Writing Program - poetry, scripts, memoirs, and short stories – as read by actors and writers. For the past three years, CSI instructor Shane Brown and Director of Community Enrichment Camille Barigar ventured into the Idaho State Penitentiary to teach creative writing workshops to inmates. What resulted was a profound experience for the inmates and the teachers. In this special presentation, you’ll hear their stories and their thoughts and explore how the introduction of creativity and artistic expression affected the lives of these men fettered by iron bars and the deeds of their pasts. Can beauty be found buried behind concrete and steel, veiled from the rest of society?
